Globalization

Most people believe that globalization can bring us more wonderful life, but I don’t think so. It’s because everything just like a mirror which has two sides---bright and dark.

On the advantage part, people can easily enjoin the fun and convenience from globalization. For example, if we are hungry but we don’t want to go into traditional restaurants, we may choose fast food. It’s easily to find a fast food restaurant in Taiwan. When we need to enjoy a cup of coffee and choose a place which can allow people stay for a long time and offer good atmosphere, we may go to star backs. Even we don’t have to go out, and we still can enjoin the convenience of globalization. We may just open our computers and search the Internet, and then we can find not only information from different countries but also everything what we need. Globalization let different countries be connected together and exchange information more easily and fast. That’s why globalization becomes a trend.

On the disadvantage part, Globalization will become a symbolization of strong culture. A strong culture is like an invader to invade another disadvantaged culture by globalization. That’s because some traditions of these countries will become withered and even disappear in all respects. It’s a serious problem, because some of the whole disadvantaged cultures may disappear. Why the world is so colorful and characteristic, because there are different and unique cultures in the world. That’s also why people like to travel in different countries.

Japan is a country which deal with this problem well. Japan people understand to protect their culture and keep their culture. They love and pride of their traditions, but they don’t refuse all the foreign cultures. Oppositely, they try to accept some good cultures for them by selecting. They also do a good job of combining the foreign culture and their traditional culture, and even try to absorb the advantages of foreign culture into their traditional culture and become their new and unique culture.

Therefore, I think that Taiwan is like an ocean which is never refusing any culture whether it’s good or not. We should to protect our culture, not just blind to accept the different foreign culture. Once our whole traditional culture disappears, Taiwan would not be Taiwan anymore.

A Leisurely Life

“How to have a leisurely life” is always most people’s dream. If we try to ask those people why they want to have this kind of life, they may tell you that they don’t satisfy their life now. Therefore, if we want to change our life styles, we need to find out the reasons why people don’t satisfy their life and some solutions of how to have a leisurely life.

The reasons may be separated into 2 different parts. The first one is that the physiological layer. In our society, people rich or not is an important problem. It means that if people don’t have enough money to live, they will get into a lot of troubles, because we use money to buy a lot of things what we need. So, if we want to solve this problem, the first thing we should try to do is that use our money in the “right” way. We need to decide some things we must buy now, and others we can buy later. Then, we can try to record the price of everything we cost. It may help us to control our money easily and understand what we cost everyday. Once we keep our money well, we may near the leisurely life.

The second part is the psychological layer. Most people don’t feel happy and their life bored. They don’t understand why they need to live so hardly, and even feel their lives are meaningless. At this time, we need to find out our life goals and try to do some work what we interested. Thus, even when we work, we still can feel fun from our job. Besides, we may try to open our heart to our family and good friends, once we get into troubles, they will try their best to help us, and you will not feel lonely all the time. In the free time, we should try to throw aside all the vexation, just enjoy our life. Once we can follow these ways, we may more near to reach the leisurely life.

Finally, we need to keep a good mood every moment as possible as we can. That’s because if we do so, we can always look things more optimistic. And then, we will not easily to feel frustrate when we do some difficult jobs. It also helpful for our interpersonal relationship, because other people may think you are kind and easy to get along with you, thus, when you need their help, they may give a hand to you.

Consequently, if we really want to have a leisurely life, we should change ourselves first, and then try to follow these ways to change the life style. Everyone may have a leisurely life in the future.

My French Teacher

My French teacher is a short man who has a kind face, a little heavy body, and his name is Charles. He is a witty and gentle person, and his voice is soft when he speaks French especially. He always wears a white shirt and a pair of block pants.

One of the reasons that I love to learn French is that I like my French teacher’s teaching style. This class is always conducted in a cordial atmosphere. He very cares about our feelings of this class, so he often asks our opinions and tries to change his way to explain contexts of courses, and gives some examples which are short and easy to understand. He enjoys answering students’ questions. He often shares his expensive of when he in France and interesting things of the French people. He also arranges a movie time for us to enjoy the French movie and improve the common sense of the France. In the end of every class, he will broadcast some appealing French songs or operas.

I think I can feel Mr. Charles’s enthusiasm for this class. He tries so hard to remember all of his students’ face. For me, I think it’s great, because my teacher remembers me, and he knows that I am his student. I think that if a teacher plays a role that he or she not only a good teacher but also a good friend for his or her students, the learning achievement of the students would be better. Students can feel the teacher is really concern about them. Consequently, I am glad to enjoy the class of my French teacher.

Brands

If people see two products at the same time not only look like the same but also resemble in quality, and the only difference is that one is a famous brand and another one is a small brand, which one would people want to buy? In fact, if the prices of two products are similar, people will buy the one which is famous brand.

Why? It’s easy to guess the correct answer, because a famous brand is just like a guarantee of quality. Sometimes, people buy famous products not just care about the quality but also one kind of a symbolization of power and position in our society. Most people believe that famous products can offer good quality and service, even when people use those products can bring some confident to them.

The reason of some people treat other people well is that these people are look like “rich”, or they have money to possess brand products. For example, if a girl who wears a T-shirt and a pair of blue jeans and a woman who wears a suit and high heels come in a department store at the same time, which one will be more welcome for the staff of the department store? Of sure, the answer is the woman! It’s cruel but also true. So, there are many people will hope they can have one in their life.

Zhang Man-Yu is a famous actress in the world. She thinks that if people persist in buying brands and just following the popular trend, this kind of people are “pitiful”. Therefore, when she buys a new product every time, the first thing that she will do is cutting the label. She considers that once things become hers, and she doesn’t care and want not to know about the brands of those products, because those products belong to “her own style”.

In my opinion, I agree with the idea of Zhang Man-Yu. I think people should not let material blind their reason. Even though they really love famous brand products, they should try to weight their financial abilities before they buy those expensive things. I think I may try to do a person who have my own style, not just follow the trend.

On Typhoon Day

On Friday morning last week, I got a phone call. It told me that could I try to work tomorrow? After I heard this news, I thought that it’s unbelievable because this work was not only my first part-time job but also it was a typhoon day tomorrow! After I told my cousin about this news, she invited me to live her house, because the work place was near to her house.

The morning on typhoon day, I was waked up by some loud sounds of the wind beating the window in my cousin’s room. About 9:20a.m., my cousin bought me a breakfast; it’s a delicious sandwich with good smell of cheese. After I finished my breakfast, it was time to go to work. So, I wore my yellow coat and walked slowly to my destination. In my work way, I could hear loud roars of the wind and the rain like fog surrounded me.

A few minutes later, I arrived at the restaurant that I work for. I saw some persons standing in front of the door of the restaurant. Everyone wore a yellow polo shirt with the name of this restaurant, so I guessed they were also employees of this restaurant. Then boss appeared and open the blue Iron Gate. I followed those employees going into the kitchen. My boss told me that if I have any question, I could ask a lady who had been working here more than two months.

Everyone began to do their work. My role in this restaurant was a waitress, so I had to mop the floor and service guests. Unfortunately, I found that the rain dripped down from leaks in the roof. Therefore, I spent the whole day mopping the floor. Because it was a typhoon day, few guests came in. Finally, my boss let the staff go home.

At short, I think it’s a special and painful experience for me. I never go out when the news says that it’s a typhoon day, everyone should stay at home. I can say it’s the craziest thing that I never do before. Therefore, I suggest those people who have to go to work on typhoon days should notice their safety.
